About the role

This temporary 10 month role is available as a result of a maternity leave arrangement.

As an experienced and senior team player you will contribute to the development and achievement of the Planning Department’s goals through the provision of leadership, planning experience and the efficient delivery of statutory planning services. This position will manage complex statutory planning applications with a focus on effective service delivery and commitment to quality. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of applications including residential, subdivision, commercial and industrial developments. There is also the opportunity to contribute to process improvements.

Your Main Responsibilities will include

  • The assessment and processing of town planning applications
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to junior planners, applicants and the community
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders with an interest in the planning process
  • Exercise delegated authority provided by Council
  • Preparing and presenting submissions to VCAT and concise reports to Council
