    About the Position:

    The role administers and enforces Council's Local Laws, Animal Control and Community Laws programs with enthusiasm while being able to interpret and apply relevant legislation in a consistent, courteous and reasonable manner. You will:

    • Investigate a range of legislative controls focusing on, but not limited to, animal management, protection of amenity through Local Laws, rubbish dumping and parking.
    • Gather evidence, issue infringements and prepare briefs of evidence and reports that support the giving of evidence as a witness to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Impound and dispose of abandoned vehicles, shopping trolleys and illegal signs in accordance with Council's Policies and Procedures.
    • Participation in rostered weekend shifts, regular weekend and after-hours work (overtime and allowances will apply).

    About You:

    • You will be able to work using your own initiative and be able to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders in a confident and polite manner.
    • Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to deal with high volume workload, manage time, plan and organise own work. 
    • Demonstrated ability to ensure IT platforms and programs are optimised and specifically customised to ensure the successful delivery of administrative functions and responsibilities.
    • Highly developed writing skills including the ability to prepare correspondence and reports in response to matters of varying complexity.

    Requirement of the position:

    • A Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or Local Government (Regulatory Services), or similar qualification is desirable;
    • Maintaining a current Victorian Driver's Licence is mandatory;
    • Right to work in Australia;
    • Employee Working with Children’s Check;
    • Pre-employment medical assessment;
    • Satisfactory National Police Check; and
    • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
