This role works alongside a team of committed corporate professional in the Corporate Performance Department. The Department is the catalyst for driving the strategic direction and operational performance of the Monash City Council, ensuring services and projects are strategically aligned and delivering value for money.

About the Position

In this role you will lead Council’s systematic, organisation-wide approach to identifying, assessing, and treating risks to ensure we continue to deliver quality services sustainability and safely. Achieved through working with the Executive Leadership Team in building top-down accountability and from embedding a risk-aware culture across all business units.

This role is responsible for providing leadership and support in our risk management and business assurance policies, processes and practices. This includes a leadership role in:

  • Supporting Executive Leadership Team in their risk management discussions and decision making
  • Coordinating strategic, corporate and operational risk reporting
  • Leading reviews of key policies including the Enterprise Risk and Opportunity Management Framework, Fraud and Corruption Prevention Framework and Audit and Risk Committee Charter
  • Building efficient and effective risk management strategies and processes (operational risk mapping)
  • Development and implementation of the strategic internal audit plan and organisational assurance map

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in risk management, or related field, highly desirable
  • Extensive risk management and/or business assurance experience (ideally in a local government environment)
  • Experience leading change projects desirable
  • High level verbal and written communication skills demonstrated at a senior organisational level
