About the Position

The Coordinator Early Years Services provides strategic leadership and coordination for Council’s early years programs, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, integrated and evidence‑informed services that support children and families across the municipality.

Reporting to the Manager, Children, Youth and Family Services, you will lead a diverse portfolio of services and teams, working collaboratively with internal departments, service providers and sector partners to deliver best‑practice outcomes aligned with legislative and community needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Providing leadership and direction across early years services, including playgroups, early childhood education and care, and kindergarten support services
  • Leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high‑performing, inclusive and collaborative culture
  • Ensuring services meet legislative, regulatory, accreditation and governance requirements
  • Driving continuous improvement, quality assurance and evidence‑informed practice
  • Building strong partnerships with service providers, community organisations and government agencies
  • Contributing to strategic planning, policy development and service innovation
  • Overseeing budgets, reporting and the effective management of facilities and infrastructure for children’s services

Requirements

You are a strategic and people‑focused leader with a strong background in early childhood education and care, community services or a related discipline. You bring the ability to balance operational leadership with long‑term planning and service development.

  • Tertiary qualifications in early childhood education and care, social science or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in early years or complex service environments
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks and funding arrangements
  • Proven experience in service planning, quality improvement and stakeholder collaboration
  • Well‑developed communication, negotiation and people‑leadership skills
  • Sound financial and budget management experience
  • A commitment to strength‑based, child‑centered practice and inclusive, culturally responsive service delivery

Experience working in local government or multi‑agency environments will be highly regarded.
