The engineering team at Monash is responsible for monitoring traffic outcomes, capital works delivery and the minimising impacts of development and construction throughout the municipality. The team works collaboratively with many other teams across Council and external consultants to achieve positive outcomes for the community.

About the Position

The successful applicant will undertake and manage a portfolio of development and infrastructure tasks and projects to meet corporate objectives. The position is responsible for ensuring that infrastructure works are prioritised in accordance with community expectations and impacts from development and construction across the municipality are appropriately managed. 

Skills and Experience

  • Broad experience and achievement in civil engineering in design, maintenance and construction is highly desirable
  • Computing skills, including word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, and design packages such as DRAINS, TuFlow and OSD4
  • Sound conceptual and analytic skills
  • Relevant engineering and systems related experience and achievements
  • An understanding and ability to apply the knowledge of wider political, legal and socio-economic realities
  • An understanding and commitment to the longer-term goals of the wider organisation and its values and aspirations
  • Appreciate the role of quality and attention to detail in all activities and be able to develop and assist the engineering manager and team leader development engineering in the development of “Continuous Improvement” principles into the processes of the department and team

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, infrastructure or related discipline
  • Eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia
  • Current Victorian Driver’s licence
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in development and engineering works related to Local Government
