About the Position

The Desktop Support Officer is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all Digital Technology (DT) desktop systems are operating effectively
  • Providing a high level of service to City of Monash staff
  • Provide operational and strategic input into the branch's overall management, including fostering the development of a proactive customer service focus
  • Contribute to the development and achievement of Branch and Divisional goals
  • Proficient in MS Intune, Azure/Entra ID, Windows AD, Windows Application Deployment Packaging, and Exchange Admin Centre
  • Build and install PCs, maintain telephone/softphone systems, wireless networks and peripheral devices (such as printers, scanners, mobile/smart phones) related to desktop infrastructure, in accordance with department standards
  • Provides advice and guidance to colleagues regarding incidents
  • Maintain installed PCs, networks, softphones system and peripherals with routine maintenance
  • Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications or network systems
  • Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to senior team leaders for consideration and implementation
  • Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelines

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a systems related field or recognised industry qualification.
  • An understanding of the Local Government environment and its complexities would be an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders to collaboratively achieve change.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, advanced analytical and troubleshooting ability;
  • Experienced in supporting hardware running MS Windows Operating Systems, Apple iOS and related software within a networked or Cloud environment.
  • Significant exposure in a Service Desk environment and proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to undertake complex investigatory tasks.
  • Well Experience with Microsoft Windows AD, Azure/Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Admin Centre, Auto Pilot and backup principles
