About the Position

Using a strength based, customer focused approach, the role will be to engage and support the participation of families in playgroups.

Skills and Experience

  • Plan and facilitate supported playgroup sessions using flexible programming approaches that are responsive to individual family and child needs
  • To provide opportunities for families to develop parenting skills and confidence to support their child's learning and development
  • High level of understanding of the importance of play in the learning and development of young children
  • Respect and respond to families cultural values, needs and circumstances
  • Develop positive relationships with key local stakeholders and referral sources to develop referral pathways for vulnerable families
  • Understanding of the concepts of community development and community capacity building

Requirements

  • Hold or are working towards a minimum Diploma level in early childhood, social work or health field e.g Early Childhood; Social work; Social welfare; family support; community services, parent education; family support worker
  • Experience in the provision of services to children and families
  • Proven experience working with community organisations 
  • Employee Working with Children’s Check 
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
