About the Position

We have multiple exciting opportunities to join our Active Monash Health Club division as a Gym Instructor. This role provides for an individual who is customer focused, inclusive and works well in a fast paced team, making a difference to our community by enabling them to “Participate Their Way’ within our wide range of health and wellbeing-based services.  We are a supportive, engaging and team-based environment with authentic leadership, ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.   • Adhere to Active Monash’s Service Improvement Program’s key focus areas; cleanliness and presentation, presence and supervision, communication, staff appearance and professionalism
  • Assist with operational needs such as welcoming new members, providing training advice, technique correction, generating feedback and cleaning of equipment
  • Generate Personal Training Leads
  • Conduct Personal Training and adhere to Active Monash Policy and Procedure 
  • Conduct thorough health assessments and design gym programs for members
  • Provide high level of customer service to patrons at all times whilst allowing them to ‘participate their way’
  • Positively promote the benefits of health and wellness programs and retention initiatives within the centre
  • Develop and foster a positive culture amongst patrons and promote other health and wellness and recreation activities
  • Implement and follow all relevant centre wide and gym policies and procedures
  • Report major and minor issues concerning gym members or the facility to Team Leader
  • Provide a professional public image and maintain a safe, informative and friendly gym environment
  • Collect statistical information regarding patronage
  • Conduct group exercise sessions when required within scope of practice

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of Certificate III and IV in Fitness or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Sound knowledge and technical skills in prescribing and supervising one on one and group exercise
  • A demonstrated commitment to providing high levels of customer service
  • Experience in providing exercise and fitness assistance to a range of demographics within the community
  • Sound communication, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in assessing physical activity and developing individual exercise programs
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to varying tasks and priorities
  • Progression to Personal Training and develop a client base as part of Active Monash commitments
  • Wide range of availability compatible with operational hours and needs including Centre opening shifts at 5:30am and closing shifts ending at 9:15pm

Requirements

  • Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current Employee Working with Children’s Check
  • Registration with AUS Active
  • Right to Work in Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
