We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join the Horticultural Services Department as part of the Landscape and Playspace team.
About the Role
As a Landscape and Playspace Officer, you will be responsible for both proactive and reactive maintenance of Council's open space assets within in a supportive team-based environment.
Your daily routine may include
- Installing and maintaining landscape assets
- Minor landscaping, unsealed path construction and maintenance
- Nature strip reinstatements, timber fencing/bollard installation
- Playground inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Operation and minor maintenance of equipment
- Working cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors
- Conducting your work with a safety mindset
About You
- To be successful in this role you are highly motivated, friendly, approachable, flexible, and hardworking
- You are a team player who has a passion for open space asset maintenance, attention to detail and working in an ever-changing environment
Requirements of the position
- Current manual Victorian drivers' license
- Some experience in landscape maintenance and equipment
- Pre-employment Medical Assessment
- Employee Working with Children’s Check
- Satisfactory National Police Check
- Valid Right to Work in Australia
- Willingness to obtain skills outlined below under highly desirable
Desirable but not essential:
- Certificate III in Horticulture (Landscaping/construction) or equivalent
- Medium Rigid Truck license or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Skid steer loader license or willingness to obtain with the first 3 months of employment
- Demonstrated application of relevant Traffic management control procedures and Accreditation
- Understanding the requirements in providing safe playground facilities and willingness to obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector accreditation within the first 3 months of employment
