A vacancy exists for a motivated person to work in the Horticultural Services Department as part of the Sports Turf & Assets team as a Turf Wicket and Sportsground Curator.

About the Position:

  • We have an opportunity for a talented sports turf professional to join our team
  • Prepare match wickets, outfield and practice facilities for Premier Cricket, Sub District & Local turf cricket competitions
  • Assist in the preparation of high level sportsfields for AFL, Rugby & NPL soccer
  • Scheduled maintenance of sports fields including wicket renovation and preparation, maintenance of sports fields and seasonal change over activities
  • Opportunity to provide feedback and insights on sports field condition and management options

About you:

  • Formal qualification at Certificate 3 level in Horticulture /Turf management or relevant experience and skills will be considered.
  • Experience in Turf management, preferably on turf wickets but not essential, and an ability to give direction, as well as work autonomously
  • Experience in the practices and processes involved in the annual planning and delivery of turf wicket and sports field cultural/nutrition programs
  • Ability to identify, prevent and rectify nutritional/soil deficiencies as well as seasonal pest, weed and fungal problems as they occur
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A pleasant demeanor and able to build successful relationships in a small yet energetic team environment

Requirement of the position:

  • Employee Working with Children’s Check
  • Medium Rigid Truck Licence
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
