The City of Monash Maternal Child Health service has an exciting opportunity for a Maternal Child Health nurse to be part of our Enhanced Maternal Child Health Team.

About the Position

The role is responsible for working in conjunction with Monash Maternal Child Health Nurses and Family Support Workers to support families experiencing increased vulnerabilities using a partnership approach. Our service is comprised of Enhanced MCH nurses, Family Support Worker and the Universal MCH team along with a highly supportive administration staff and a collaborative multidisciplinary team within the Children Youth and Family services. We are committed to delivering innovative services empowering families to achieve their goals, support parenting, attachment and confidence. The successful candidate will need to be a flexible and dynamic individual who enjoys the challenge and variety of working with a diverse community.

Skills and Experience

  • Specialist knowledge and skills in identification and acknowledgement of vulnerabilities families face, working with families to overcome obstacles to improve health and development outcomes for all
  • Ability to work with families to develop, formulate and evaluate family actions plans
  • Ability to disseminate information in way that supports each families individual needs whilst also provide support and guidance to Universal Maternal Child Health nurses
  • Specialist knowledge in child health and development, family and community needs including up to date theoretical and practical knowledge of child and family health and development
  • A demonstrated commitment to participate in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to increase knowledge and skills
  • The ability to work across both Universal MCH and Enhanced MCH

Requirements

  • Current Nurse and Midwife registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate Qualifications in Family, Child and Community Health or equivalent (as defined by AHPRA) 
  • Experience of 5 years experience as Maternal Child Health nurse 
  • Current Victorian Drivers License
  • Employee Working with Children’s Check 
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
