About the Position

The Executive Assistant to the Mayor and Councillors position sits in the Corporate Governance & Legal team of the Corporate Services division of Council. The division encompasses several key areas aimed at enhancing the council's operations and service delivery, which include ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

This opportunity is a 12-month maternity leave placement from February 2025 – February 2026.

Skills and Experience

  • Exemplary ability to liaise with public sector dignitaries, skillfully communicating with diplomacy
  • Navigating and managing highly sensitive information with an informed and competent approach
  • Profound ability to apply knowledge and process to solve arising issues, to drive highly effective outcomes
  • Advanced skills in administrative and organisational management, with an accomplished ability to plan ahead, act and prepare documentation within guidelines, and to deadline
  • Sound independent decision-making skills with an ability to operate at a high-functioning level during times of pressure
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills including ability to prepare correspondence, research reports and results

Requirements

  • Flexibility in hours (after hours/ functions/events) as required
  • Current drivers’ licence
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Executive Assistant in a similar role
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication to contribute to workplace culture, the preparation of correspondence, and liaising broadly with others
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Satisfactory National Police Check; and
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
