About the Position

City of Monash Council is seeking an experienced Diploma qualified Arborist to join our team. An exciting opportunity is waiting for you to play a key role in protecting and enhancing the City of Monash's green assets! You be responsible for providing technical expertise and advice on tree management and maintenance to internal and external customers and stakeholders. 

We are looking for someone who is proactive, adept in building strong working relationships, and a team player who pays great attention to detail. This role provides an opportunity to use your excellent time and record management skills whilst working flexibly in a fast-paced environment.

As our Senior Arborist, you will have the opportunity to work on a very diverse range of interesting projects that relate to maintaining, protecting, and contribute meaningfully to Monash's great green spaces and places.

Skills and Experience

  • You are a highly skilled Arborist with extensive and diverse knowledge and experience managing large tree populations in a public environment
  • You will use you experience in providing expert advice on complex Arboricultural matters
  • You are well versed at preparing and reviewing Arborist reports
  • You capable of preparing permit conditions for council trees affected by development or project works
  • You are passionate about the Arboriculture industry and ensure best practices are being adhered to
  • You have a customer centric focus that will assist in improving community satisfaction and appreciation of trees
  • You have a sound understanding of industry best practice and the relevant regulations, legislation and frameworks relating to tree management

Requirements

  • Minimum diploma level qualification in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, or related qualification with extensive and diverse knowledge and experience managing large tree populations in a public environment
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior arboricultural role providing technical expert advice
  • Experience in continuous improvement and development of technical service levels
  • Experience managing large service contracts, short term contracts, and consultants
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current and valid drivers licence
