We are seeking a qualified and experienced team player to join the Horticultural Services Department as part of the Landscape and Playspaces team.
About the Role:
As Crew Leader, you will be collaboratively working within and assisting to progressively lead the Landscape & Playspace team to deliver both proactive and reactive maintenance of Council's open space assets within the municipality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a range of landscape assets using sound horticultural skills.
- Operation and minor maintenance of horticultural and landscape plant and equipment.
- Playground maintenance and repairs.
- Work cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors.
- Ensure fulfilment of organisational obligations under the OHS Act and relevant Council policies and procedures.
- Minor landscaping and restoration.
- Naturestrip reinstatements, timber fencing/bollard installation.
- Unsealed path maintenance/construction.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be highly motivated, friendly, approachable, flexible and hardworking. You will be a team player who is looking to develop leadership skills and use your sound horticultural knowledge and skills combining this with your passion for horticulture and working in a constantly changing environment.
You will also have:
- Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (Landscaping/construction) or demonstrated Landscaping experience.
- Experienced in a mix of hard and soft landscape maintenance and equipment.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes.
- Current manual Victorian drivers' license.
- Medium Rigid Truck license or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Skid steer loader license or willingness to obtain with the first 3 months of employment.
- Basic carpentry trade skills.
- Demonstrated application of relevant Traffic management control procedures and Accreditation.
- Understanding the requirements in providing safe playground facilities and relevant inspection training (desirable) or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
