About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor & Works Supervisor to work in the Capital Works Department as part of the Civil Infrastructure Projects team. You will be responsible for the delivery, construction supervision and project management of civil, horticultural and environmental infrastructure related projects assigned to the department.

  • Scope, estimate, plan, program, coordinate, oversee, manage and monitor the delivery of civil infrastructure works/programs being undertaken by appointed contractors across the City of Monash
  • Delivery of civil construction works in accordance with approved plans and specifications and applying contract management practice, civil engineering knowledge, construction experience and surveillance, including the use of corporate systems
  • Working to the highest levels of safety and in accordance with current WH&S legislation and industry best practice requirements
  • Provide high quality customer service and stakeholder engagement to work colleagues, the member of the public, contractors, service authorities and relevant external stakeholders

Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience in supervising civil construction works with Trade qualifications associated with civil works, or graduates with tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Project Management and some industry experience
  • Good knowledge of contemporary project management and experience in feasibility study, scoping, planning, programming, estimating, risk assessment, financial management, procurement, contract management/supervision of civil construction works and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects
  • Sound knowledge of legislative, WH&S and traffic management requirements and principles related to civil construction and maintenance works, as well as commitment of compliance in practice
  • Sound knowledge of corporate electronic systems to manage projects, contracts and budgets
  • Ability to organise, plan, multitask, prioritise works and oversee project delivery, within tight timeframes and budgets
  • Well-developed communication skills with a diverse range of people, with an ability to converse, listen, influence and negotiate to achieve intended outcomes
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver Licence

Requirements

  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
  • Substantial experience in supervising civil construction works with Trade qualifications associated with civil works, or graduates with tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Project Management and some industry experience
  • Valid Drivers License
