About the Position
As the Senior Waste and Resource Recovery Officer, you will lead strategic projects and manage closed landfill sites to ensure compliance and environmental protection. You will also develop waste management guidelines, oversee contracts and finances, and provide exceptional customer service while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Additionally, you will drive sustainability initiatives, ensuring all projects align with Council’s sustainability goals and strategies.
Skills and Experience
Your responsibilities include:
- Ensure safe and compliant management of closed landfill sites.
- Lead and deliver strategic resource recovery and waste management projects.
- Develop and review waste management guidelines and plans for multi-unit and commercial developments.
- Oversee contract and financial management for resource recovery and waste management services.
- Provide high-quality project outcomes and maintain excellence in customer service.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address community concerns and ensure transparent communication.
About you
- Expertise in contract, project, and financial management, including budget management and reporting.
- Strong investigation, analytical, and reporting skills for service improvement and customer service performance.
- Proficiency in customer service, dispute resolution, negotiation, and conducting effective meetings.
- Ability to coach and mentor staff, fostering a positive work environment and professional growth.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, acts, regulations, and local laws impacting the role.
Requirements
- Qualifications at a tertiary level, from a field where learnings are applicable to the position such as in business, engineering, environmental science, resource recovery, waste or a related discipline.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Satisfactory National Police Check
- Working With Children Check
