The Monash Maternal Child Health service (MCH) is situated within the Children Youth and Family Services department. This department has a strong focus on supporting infants, children and families offering innovative service delivery models to meet the needs of a contemporary community.  The Maternal Child Health program is committed to providing service excellence that is evidence based, family centered and grounded in strength-based practice.

About the Position

We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated, flexible and agile in-service delivery with demonstrated ability to support families from the postnatal period to school age, fostering partnerships that promote optimal health and wellbeing. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the physical, emotional and social factors affecting families in contemporary communities with demonstrated experience implementing innovative strategies to support engagement. 

The role provides the opportunity to work both within a center, clients homes and outreach.

Skills and Experience

  • Current nurse and midwife registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate Qualifications in Family, Child and Community Health or equivalent (as defined by AHPRA)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to engage with diverse communities
  • Knowledge and skills relevant to the provision of the Victorian Local Government Maternal and Child Health service
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding regarding women’s health issues and in particular, post-natal depression and ability to use Edinburgh Post Natal Depression scale
  • Knowledge of the specific needs of families from cultural and linguistic diverse backgrounds (CALD) including first Nations families
  • Experience in facilitating community education/health promotion programs for infants, young children and their families as per program standards
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child Information Sharing Schemes and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes, MARAM and Child Safe Standards

Requirements

  • Registration as Nurse and Midwife with APHRA
  • Qualifications in Maternal Child Health/ Family Health Nursing
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Employee Working with Children’s Check
  • Satisfactory National Police Check completed in past 6 months
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
