The Economy, Place and Connected Communities unit leads initiatives that strengthen local business growth and connections, place making and activations and the delivery of the Monash Community Grant and Volunteering programs. The team works collaboratively across Council and with external partners to deliver strategic programs that support a resilient and thriving local economy.

About the Position

This role will lead key economic development initiatives that strengthen business growth and attract investment in Monash. Responsibilities include coordinating education and networking programs for the local business community, as well as delivering initiatives that address workforce and skills gaps across priority industries and cohorts. The successful candidate will apply strong research, stakeholder engagement and project management skills to drive programs that advance Monash’s long‑term economic goals.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver outcomes on time and to a high standard
  • Demonstrated understanding of local economic development, data insights and business trends
  • Excellent communication skills across written, verbal and digital formats
  • Ability to build productive partnerships with internal teams, government agencies and the business community
  • Proven capacity to work independently while contributing to a high‑performing team environment
  • Sound judgement and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Satisfactory National Police Check
