Part of the People & Safety department, the Safety team empowers and supports the organisation to maintain a proactive safety culture. The Safety Team supports the design, development and adoption of key safety systems and practices across Monash to prevent and manage injury and illness.
About the Position
Leading a small team of OHS professionals, the Safety Lead plays an instrumental role in driving a culture of safety by making strategic links with core and operational practices, and aligning with broader organisational strategies and objectives. The role is responsible for organisational wide processes, systems and programs to ensure Monash City Council can achieve its safety commitment and legislative obligations.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in leading an OHS/Safety portfolio including Workcover and Return to Work
- Experience leading and developing a team
- Highly developed stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- Exceptional team working and collaboration skills organisational wide
- An ability to flex operational detail with big picture thinking
- An ability to thrive in a fast paced and complex work environment
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in OHS and substantial experience in a similar role
- Satisfactory National Police Check; and
- Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
