About the Position
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and qualified Attendant Support Workers to join our team.
The Attendant Support Worker provides assistance directly to Attendant Support Initiative (ASI) Program service users including personal care tasks and mobility/transfers when entering/exiting centre and its facilities. This means accompanying clients in a variety of pools of varying depths and the gymnasium to assist with either prescribed exercises or to support them recreationally.
The position assists in ensuring that all staff are well versed in the ASI program responsibilities to ensure that the service delivery and safety of the centre's program is of the highest quality.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability working with people with a disability and older people in a community / recreational setting
- Demonstrated ability in the delivery of inclusive recreation programs
- Well-developed problem-solving abilities and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both within a team and autonomously
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, service users, carers and families
- Current CPR
- Current Senior First Aid
- Working With Children’s Check
- Safeguarding Children Certificate
- Desirable - Certificate III – (Community Care services, Disability, Aged Care or other related fields) or currently studying in related fields
- Are comfortable being in deep and shallow water for long periods of time with clients engaging in water activities
Requirements
- Proven experience in an attendant support role in disability services / recreation services
- Proven experience and achievement in the leisure industry or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Basic swimming ability and the capability to support another person in the water
- Desire to or experience in providing inclusive recreation programs to service users, their families and carers
- Current CPR certificate
- Current Senior First Aid certificate
- Employee Working With Children's Check
- Safeguarding Children Certificate
- Satisfactory National Police Check; and
- Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
