About the Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic, community minded and process driven person to join the City of Monash Connected Communities team.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Connected Communities within the broader Community Strengthening team, the Community Participation Officer will work to building volunteering and community capacity priorities by:
- Providing co-ordination of the Volunteer@Monash program, ensuring there is a consistent approach to the recruitment, training and support of volunteers across Monash, including the maintenance of accurate volunteer information.
- Providing support to Volunteer Program Leaders across council, reviewing policies, procedures and maximising opportunities to engage volunteers. It will work collaboratively across the Community Services Directorate and Council to contribute to organisational capacity building for volunteering.
- Implementing a broad range of community development, participation projects and other initiatives to create a stronger community. Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of social connection strategies in Monash Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
- Developing and fostering both key internal and external partnerships and networks to encourage active participation and connections within the community.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor qualification in community development, social sciences, health promotion or similar with several years of relevant experience in or lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience
- Knowledge and understanding of volunteering principles, the volunteering sector and current requirements, and the importance that volunteering has particularly to social connection.
- Knowledge of how to plan, develop implement and evaluate community development initiatives in a Local Government environment in order to meet the needs of the local community.
- Able to plan, implement, evaluate, and manage high level projects.
- An ability to work effectively and build partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
